While corporate responsibility has always been part of Contec’s DNA, this report reflects a structured, measurable, and community-driven approach to making a difference. Guided by three foundational focus areas—Our Company, Our People, and Our Community—we’ve made significant strides in advancing sustainability, empowering our associates, and investing in the places we call home.
Reflecting on a Five-Year Journey
When we set our original CSR targets in 2019, our goal was to push ourselves—to improve, innovate, and be more intentional in our impact. The 2024 report gives us a snapshot of how far we’ve come.
And the numbers tell a compelling story:
- 2.73 million kWh of solar energy produced globally
- Over 56,000 lbs of isopropyl alcohol diverted from hazardous waste
- More than 3,100 volunteer hours contributed by associates across communities
We’re not just meeting benchmarks—we’re building momentum.

Science-Based Goals for a Cleaner Tomorrow
One of our most exciting developments in 2024 is our formal commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
This
move ensures our environmental goals align with global standards for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It’s a strategic step forward, positioning us to benchmark and reduce our carbon footprint across all scopes—1, 2, and 3.

Empowering Innovation from Within
We also continue to invest in innovation at every level of the organization. Our Spark Tank and Opportunity Tags programs invite associates to identify everyday challenges and propose bold new solutions—from redesigning packaging to reducing plastic waste. These programs are reminders that great ideas can come from anywhere.
In 2024, one small idea with a big impact came from Dee Geter, a Packout Lead, who introduced reusable mesh bags to replace single-use plastic in our laundry process. The result? Tens of thousands of plastic bags diverted from landfills, and a substantial cost savings.
Giving Back, Together
CSR at Contec isn’t confined to boardrooms and factories. It lives in the hands of every associate who volunteers, every team member who supports a local nonprofit, and every person who gives back.
This year, Contec was honored as United Way of the Piedmont’s Large Business Partner of the Year, contributing over $177,000 to community programs. From hurricane relief efforts in Western North Carolina to supporting early childhood nutrition through Ruth’s Gleanings, we’re proud to stand with our neighbors when it matters most.
What’s Next?
With our first five-year plan complete, the journey isn’t over—it’s evolving. In 2025, we’ll unveil a new set of goals, shaped by everything we’ve learned and inspired by everything we still hope to accomplish.
Corporate Social Responsibility is not a destination—it’s a mindset. And at Contec, it continues to shape how we innovate, how we grow, and how we show up for our communities and each other.
