Mark Wiencek

K. Mark Wiencek, PhD, is the Lead Microbiologist for Contec, Inc. and leads the technical service group for pharmacy, healthcare and professional cleaning.

Mark has been hunting and killing germs for over twenty-five years. He received a MS in Microbiology from NCSU and a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Maryland. Since then, he has focused on control of microbes and biofilms in multiple applications including water treatment, consumer textiles, medical devices, and environmental surfaces in the built environment. Previous industrial experience with the biocides group at Rohm and Haas Company and as the lead microbiologist at Milliken & Company for 18 years. In early 2017, Mark joined the technical team at Contec to support cleaning tools and chemistries for control of microbial contamination in pharmacies, healthcare facilities and other critical environments.

Matt Schiering has 25+ years of experience leading B-to-C and B-to-B enterprises. He is currently Chief Marketing Officer for Contec, Inc., the largest global provider of critical cleaning products to the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. Prior to this, Matt ran his own strategic consulting company where he worked with global enterprises including Thermo-Fisher Scientific and the USDA. Earlier in his career, Matt was VP/General Manager of Sani Professional (a Division of PDI, inc.), a major player in the Food & Beverage safety sector. While there, he built strong relationships with retailers (Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, Publix) and distributors (Essendant, Sysco, Veritiv) alike. He also has significant CPG, Personal Care and Jan-San/Healthcare segment experience. Matt has two U.S. patents and dozens of product launches to his credit. He holds a B.S. in Hospitality Administration from Cornell University and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at El Paso. He is a proud U.S. Army veteran, having served from 1990 - 1994 as a commissioned officer.
