Workplace safety in the United States during this pandemic has mainly centered around keeping essential employees safe from contracting COVID-19. However, now that states are starting to reopen businesses and other facilities, workplace safety is even more important, since almost all working environments have changed. New procedures, equipment, PPE, and other changes about the job means new health and safety opportunities. June is the perfect time to focus anew on improving safety in the workplace.
According to the most recent report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, private industry employees experienced 2.8 million non-fatal workplace injuries and illnesses in a year. Although these incidents – thankfully – didn’t result in employee deaths, there were still thousands of lost work hours, wages, production, and time being healthy. Being safe on the job affects more than what happens during working hours.
Contec recently celebrated going over one year without a lost-time injury in the US. Whether it’s our associates on the production lines in South Carolina or our sales reps working thousands of miles away, safety is an important component to every employee’s job, and we apply the same dedication to it as we do our other values.
