The World Health Organization (WHO) announced in February 2020 that the disease causing the 2019 novel coronavirus outbreak, first identified in Wuhan China, would be known as coronavirus disease 2019, abbreviated as COVID-19. The “CO” stands for corona, “VI” for virus, and “D” for disease. It was elevated to a pandemic once the disease spread to multiple countries. As of January 2021, over 100 million cases have been reported worldwide, affecting more than 200 countries. In anticipation of questions from our valued customers, we are providing the following summary of our proprietary chemistries and their known performance against this pathogen and similar enveloped viruses. In short, several of our EPA-registered, U.S. formulations should prove effective when used in accordance with their labeling against COVID-19 and similar enveloped strains of coronavirus. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and WHO continue to monitor, study, and update findings concerning COVID-19 and its emerging variants. In addition, the CDC is working with the EPA to confirm its List N: Disinfectants for Coronavirus is current based on available information.
