Contec, Inc.’s CEO Jack McBride will go “Over the Edge” for cancer awareness this week in the Upstate. McBride and a slew of participants volunteered to rappel ten stories off the edge of the AC Hotel on October 18, 2019 to raise funds to support services for local cancer patients in the area.
United Community Bank organized the event in support of The Cancer Association of Spartanburg & Cherokee Counties, Inc. The foundation has already exceeded their $150k goal three days advance of the event, raising $152.4k so far.
McBride has already helped raise over $3,000, with hope more awareness and donations will come from the “Over the Edge” event Friday. You can support Jack and the many Upstate patients by pledging a donation on his page. Watch Jack rappel off the AC Hotel on Friday morning between 11-12:30pm.
“Facing my fear of heights is insignificant in comparison to the fears people face when given that diagnosis “You have cancer”.
CASCC is an amazing organization that provides critical supplies to clients with cancer, including nutritional supplements, bras and breast prostheses, ostomy supplies, counseling, home care supplies, wigs and hats, gas cards for treatment transportation, help with cancer medication costs, loans of equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, bedside commode, and much, much more.
I lost my mother to lung cancer at age 65 and my father to COPD and throat cancer at 83, so I am familiar with not only the ravages of the disease, but also the tremendous financial burden it puts on the patient and their caregivers. CASCC does an amazing job of helping people mitigate these costs as well as providing a compassionate ear and advice to these folks throughout the treatment process.
Please help me to support this wonderful organization!” – Jack McBride
