We’re proud to share that Contec’s UK team has been awarded the
Silver Better Health at Work Award (BHAWA)—a significant step forward from last year’s Bronze recognition. This achievement is a testament to the team’s continued commitment to promoting health, wellbeing, and inclusion across the workplace.
The Better Health at Work Award, run by
Northumberland County Council, supports organizations in fostering healthier working environments. The Silver level builds on the foundations of Bronze, requiring a more holistic and structured approach to workforce wellbeing. To reach this level, our UK team implemented initiatives aligned with several key criteria, including:
- Participation in regional health campaigns and comprehensive evaluation of those activities
- Ongoing support for mental health and wellbeing, including training, awareness, and infrastructure support
- Promotion of healthy lifestyle behaviors, including nutrition, physical activity, and substance misuse awareness
- Commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion through policies and workplace practices
- Embedding wellbeing into organizational structure, including support for health advocates and contractor engagement
Our UK team has worked tirelessly to ensure that health and wellbeing remain a priority. Their dedication not only earned the Silver Award but also laid the groundwork for continued progress.
Although the BHAWA program was discontinued in May, our team will continue to follow its framework to ensure continuity for staff. As part of the transition, the team will be passported into the upcoming
Good Work Pledge (GWP)—a refreshed initiative from the North East Combined Authority that builds on BHAWA’s foundation. The Silver Award will automatically qualify the team for a corresponding level in the new GWP structure.
The journey to Silver has highlighted the power of a proactive, supportive culture in driving associate wellbeing. We look forward to seeing how the UK team continues to lead by example—and how their experience can help shape similar efforts across the organization.
