Solar Panels Power Contec’s Spartanburg, SC Cleanroom

Contec, Inc. - Solar Panels at Spartanburg Facility

Spartanburg, SC, September 12, 2017 –  As part of an overall sustainability campaign, Contec, Inc. installed solar panels at one of its plants in September of 2016. Because our manufacturing facility is located in the southeastern United States, the climate is very favorable for capturing light from the sun and converting it to electricity.

Contec’s Locust Grove facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina has 2,888 solar panels to supply our cleanroom laundry and manufacturing facility with power during the daylight hours.

These solar panels take a load off of our power company during peak demand time,” says Don Batts, Project Leader. “This initiative also minimizes our impact on the environment by lowering our amount of carbon emissions associated with generating electricity. In the last 8 months, we have prevented 1.2 million pounds of C02 from being exhausted into the atmosphere.”

On August 21, 2017, Contec’s solar panels and employees took a break during the Great American Eclipse.

Using renewable energy resources is just one part of Contec’s path to a better, ecologically-responsible future. We recently implemented robust recycling programs at two of our US facilities, targeting cardboard, paper, aluminum, and plastic.
