Contec, Inc. to Become a Sponsor of the Palmetto Conservation's Palmetto Trail

Contec is pleased to announce their support of the Palmetto Trail project- the Palmetto Conservation’s ongoing effort to create a five hundred mile stretch of hiking and biking paths across the state of South Carolina. The trail, once completed, will stretch from “the mountains to the sea” (Palmetto Conservation). Started in 1994, the trail currently is two-thirds complete and it is built in a series of “passages,” which are designed for both single-day and multi-day trips.
Contec is passionate about promoting wellness in the community, as well as enhancing their home state’s recreation. Based in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Contec’s sponsorship will connect trails in its local community including Croft State Park, which features nature trails for hikers, bicyclists, and equestrians. Contec’s donation will also help to connect the urban areas of downtown Spartanburg.

The trails are available for free public use, although memberships with various benefits are offered. Free membership is given to employees of sponsoring businesses. “We are excited to support an organization that allows others explore to the state through the preservation of our geography, history, and culture, all at no cost to the individual” says Jack McBride, CEO of Contec, Inc. The contributions fund the Palmetto Conservation Foundation, which has “helped to protect 20,000 acres of endangered land, built 290 miles of trail for public use, and protected 550 acres of Revolutionary War battlefields” (Palmetto Conservation).

The organization hosts family-focused fun days and events such as “trail weekends” in various South Carolina state parks, ladies hikes, paddle trips, and “walking-talking” book clubs. To learn more about the Palmetto Conservation’s Palmetto Trail and how you can get involved, visit their website.
