Contec's 2014 Campaign to Support the United Way Kicks off This Month

Contec’s annual employee campaign to raise funds and awareness for the United Way of the Piedmont - a non-profit organization whose mission is to “connect, engage, and inspire people to transform our community”- begins this month.

The United Way of the Piedmont serves Spartanburg, Cherokee and Union counties in Upstate South Carolina. The private organization is driven by volunteers who are dedicated to improving the lives of those in need in our community. The United Way of the Piedmont is one of the few organizations that are able to see a substantial return on the money invested into the many of the programs they fund. Currently, for every dollar the agency receives, it is able to return $5.83 in goods and services to our local community. Donating funds and time to an organization that can best utilize the provided resources to build a stronger, healthier and sustainable community is important to Contec and its employees.

During the campaign, Contec employees have opportunities to learn about some of the local agencies that receive United Way program funding. Employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and serve as members of the Community Impact Council where funding requests from the various local community non-profit agencies are evaluated and designated.

Contec’s corporate contributions through employee giving have made a positive impact on the Upstate for over fifteen years. In June of 2014, Contec won the United Way of the Piedmont’s Circle of Excellence award for its outstanding support of the campaign. The award recognizes financial contributions as well as employee involvement.

The campaign will run from late September through the end of October; although Contec supports the United Way of the Piedmont through various drives and activities throughout the year. Contec hopes to increase new enrollments for the 2014 campaign and to have at least 80% overall employee participation.
